A Dental Prosthetist is a qualified member of the dental profession who consults directly with the public without referral, in the making, fitting, supplying, relining and repairing of all removable dental prostheses and mouthguards
They must be registered with the Dental Practice Board of Victoria and are bound to comply with the legislative requirements of the profession
Dental Prosthetists are registered providers for the Department of Veterans Affairs, the Victorian State Denture Scheme and are accepted by Health Funds.
Medical General Practitioners may refer patients, who have a chronic and complex illness, directly to Dental Prosthetists under Medicare arrangements.
The Australian Dental Prosthetists Association (Victoria) (ADPA Vic) is the State professional body and as such, sets and monitors the standards and conduct of the profession
All Dental Prosthetists belonging to the Association abide by a Code of Ethics which ensures that all patients are safeguarded in every possible way.
The Association is also able to assist with any complaint or dissatisfaction towards one of its members.
